Groups

Organize local commands by project or stack. Pro syncs groups to the cloud.

Free vs Pro

Free: create groups and assign commands in the VS Code extension (or edit ~/.recall/groups.json). Soft cap ~50. CLI recall group … still requires login. Pro syncs groups with the cloud.

01Free: create a local group

In VS Code open the recall sidebar → Groups → create group (e.g. kubernetes). No account needed. Data lands in ~/.recall/groups.json.

02Free: assign a command to a group

In Commands, open a local command's context menu → Assign to group. Pick a local group (or create one first). The Commands tree shows folders per group. The command's groupId is stored in ~/.recall/commands.json.

Suggested group structure

kuberneteskubectl commands, helm, k9s
dockerdocker run, compose, build
git-workflowbranching, rebasing, cherry-pick
databasepg_dump, psql, migrations
deploymentterraform, ansible, CI triggers
debugginglogs, traces, port-forwards

03Pro: CLI groups (login required)

After recall auth login (Pro/Team), manage cloud groups from the terminal:

recall group create kubernetesrecall group create dockerrecall save "kubectl get pods -n production" --name kube-prod --group kubernetesrecall group listrecall group show kubernetesrecall sync
// what's next
→ Share groups with your team using org vaults→ Add aliases to your grouped commands
