Aliases

Short names locally. Pro syncs aliases to the cloud.

Free vs Pro

Free: save commands with the CLI (recall save / recall run), and create short aliases in the VS Code extension or by editing ~/.recall/aliases.json. Soft cap ~100. CLI recall alias … still requires login. Pro syncs aliases with the cloud.

What are aliases?

# Long saved namerecall run kube-get-all-pods-namespaces# Short alias (same command)recall run kp

01Free: save the command (CLI)

recall save "kubectl get pods --all-namespaces" --name kube-pods --tags k8s✔ Saved as "kube-pods"recall run kube-pods

02Free: create an alias in VS Code

In VS Code open recall → Aliases → create. Set alias kp pointing at the local command kube-pods. Stored in ~/.recall/aliases.json. No account needed.

Recommended aliases

gs→git status
gl→git log --oneline -10
dps→docker ps -a
kp→kubectl get pods --all-namespaces
ta→terraform apply -auto-approve

03Pro: CLI aliases (login required)

After login on Pro/Team:

recall alias set kp kube-pods✔ Alias set: kp → kube-podsrecall run kprecall alias listrecall sync
// what's next
→ Use templates for commands with variable arguments→ Set up shell completion for even faster typing
